Shannon received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine and her Master’s of Science degree with a concentration as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist from The Ohio State University. She has over 10 years of experience in healthcare as a critical care nurse and advanced practice nurse; she is currently finishing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree with a focus in leadership at Case Western Reserve University. She is dual board certified as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Shannon has been active in the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association, and has served as President of the organization in 2015. She has been inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 2016. She has professional interests in health policy and reform, global health, and health literacy. Shannon and her husband have lived in Alaska for over 5 years, prior to that living in Ohio. Outside of the Intensive Care Unit, she enjoys the usual Alaska activities and Ohio State Football.
