Intensivist

I was born in Anchorage, and grew up in Big Lake. I went to Amherst College in Massachusetts, where I majored in English and chemistry. I returned to Alaska for medical school through the WWAMI program, graduating with Honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1999.

I did my residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. I then returned to Alaska as the first employee of The Alaska Hospitalist Group (TAHG) in 2002. I moved to Denver to attend the University of Colorado for my Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, where I joined the faculty, did clinical research, and completed a Masters of Science in Public Health.

I returned to Alaska in 2007, helping to start the Intensivist program at TAHG. I am proud of the level of service we are now able to provide critically ill and injured patients in my home state of Alaska.

I am lucky that I get to enjoy the Alaska outdoors, especially hiking, biking, and skiing. I have lived a lot of interesting places during my training, but I can say with certainty that there is no place like home.
