Jose Luna, MD

Intensivist

I was born in El Salvador, and grew up in Venezuela and Costa Rica. In Costa Rica I lived for over 10 years and it was there where I did my medical school. I graduated with Honors from “Universidad de Ciencias Medicas”.

After medical school I had the opportunity to work as the medical officer aboard  a cruise ship for several months, exploring the pacific and Caribbean coasts of Costa Rica and Panama, while I waited to start residency.

I did my residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 2004 to 2007. My fellowship in Critical Care Medicine was also done at HCMC from 2007 to 2009.

After my fellowship I decided to venture to the great state of Alaska where I have been enjoying the views, hikes, bike rides, boat rides, flights and food that make this place so special. At the same time, I have been working as one of the Intensivists with The Alaska Hospitalist Group, providing care to the critically ill patients that come from all over the state.
